Good job, Drew

I just realized that I've been following a newspaper called "NYTime" on Twitter. The real Times has more than 967,000 followers; the illustrious Time has 5,575.

Sample Time poll question: "What kind of democratic constitutionalism do subscribe to?"

The other day, I noticed I was following Food Network Canada.

19 hours at Ray's Happy Birthday Bar

It is important that I draw your attention to the lead food article in this week's City Paper — last Thursday, writer Chris Ross hung out at Ray's Happy Birthday Bar in South Philly from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. (The bar runs those hours six days a week.) It just so happened that regulars planned a roast for owner Lou Cappazolli on the same day. Chris murders it. Read his piece.

Why does Dwight Howard need a LinkedIn profile?

I'm sure he had somebody set up all his social networking sites (Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and, of course ... hi5) but this seems gratuitous. I mean, have you seen how hard I actually tried on mine?

Says here he is interested in "job inquiries" and "getting back in touch."

Happy Memorial Day. Countless Americans have lost their lives to protect the freedoms of this guy.

In case you think he's squandering his rights, keep in mind that there's also one of him vogueing:

Behind the scenes at Open ChefAMe

On Monday, Felicia D., my culinary co-conspirator from Meal Ticket, participated in Open ChefAMe, a culinary event that lets non-pro cooks try their hand at cooking a big meal in a real restaurant kitchen. Her dude Mike and I were her whipping boys sous chefs.

Pics from the evening above. More info: [one] [two] [three]

Don't you just hate nurses?

I found this when searching Google News for whether or not NBC renewed Scrubs:

Women Dressed in Scrubs Steal from Dollar General

DENVER, NC – Could it be nurses getting a “5-finger discount” from the Dollar General?

Detective Darrell Hutchens and Deputy K. Davis said store employees reported that two white females dressed in hospital or doctor’s office scrubs entered the store on May 6, 2009 and went straight to the aisle where beauty products were displayed.

The women began filling large bags they were carrying with a number of items including soap, lotion, bath products and other items.

The women were in the store less than two minutes and told the clerk on duty as they were leaving that the products could be purchased cheaper at Rite Aid. They jumped into a gray four-door sedan believed to be a Chevrolet Celebrity and left the parking lot.

In case you're in the mood for news worse than the fact that there's a group of mouthy serial shoplifter nurses driving around in a Chevy Celebrity — it turns out Scrubs has been renewed.

And Keak Da Sneak wept

A 17-year-old girl had to be airlifted to a local hospital Tuesday evening after she was run over by her own car while trying to "ghost ride," a car stunt popularized in the East Bay, police said.

The injured girl was "performing a horseplay maneuver" as her 1980s-model Chevrolet Blazer idled along about 6 p.m. near San Jose Avenue and Stonewood Drive, said Brentwood police Sgt. Mark Misquez.

With music blaring from the vehicle, the girl apparently was standing on a footstep on the driver's side while the SUV crept forward, Misquez said. At some point she slipped, lost her grip and fell to the ground, and shortly after the vehicle ran over her upper legs, he said.
